VMAP (Video Multiple Ad Playlist) is a video ad format or a video ad specification that is used to manage, serve, and track video ads in a video content, within a pre-roll, mid-roll, or post-roll ad break. VMAP is a proprietary and open format that was developed and standardized by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), and that is supported by most video players, video platforms, and video publishers. VMAP is a client-side and server-side format that allows the video content owner, the video ad network, or the video ad server, to define, schedule, and control the video ads that are played before, during, or after the video content, based on the duration, the position, the targeting, or the branding of the video ads, and the user experience, the content quality, or the ad revenue of the video content. VMAP is an alternative and complementary format to VAST (Video Ad Serving Template), and it is used to enhance the interactivity, the personalization, or the measurement of the video ads, and to optimize the yield, the performance, or the compliance of the video content.
